Renewable Diesel Info

Methodology

Data sources

Where every number and headline on this site comes from, how often it updates, and what is not available for free.

Prices

The board shows the newest value each publisher has released. A card shows the day, week or month that value covers. If a source cannot be read, the card says unavailable instead of showing an old or estimated number. When a publisher stops posting, the card keeps its last real figure and marks it as not updated.

U.S. Energy Information Administration, spot prices

Daily closing assessments. EIA publishes them weekly, usually on Wednesday, so the newest value can be about a week old.

U.S. government work, public domain (17 U.S.C. 105).

USDA AMS, National Weekly Ag Energy Round-Up

What is not on the board, and why

  • Live futures (NYMEX WTI, RBOB, ULSD/heating oil, CBOT soybean oil). Exchange prices, even delayed ones, generally need a CME Group data license to republish. No free licensed feed was found for a public site, so the board uses official spot and cash prices instead.
  • RIN prices (D4, D5, D6). EPA publishes weekly average RIN prices only inside an interactive chart, with no downloadable feed. Daily RIN assessments come from paid services such as OPIS and Argus.
  • Canola oil, palm oil and used cooking oil import prices. No free U.S. government series was found for these. The World Bank has a monthly palm oil price that could be added.
  • Renewable diesel and SAF spot prices. Assessed only by paid price reporting agencies.

News

Headlines come from publishers' public RSS feeds and from the Federal Register. General-news feeds are filtered to stories that mention oil, fuel, shipping, feedstocks or biofuel policy. Each item shows the headline, the publisher, the time and a short excerpt of the feed's own description, and links to the original story. Stories older than ten days drop off.
